nalajakis@scn1.comThe former Waukegan police officer accused of sexually assaulting a woman while on duty is continuing to fight his bond, while maintaining his innocence.
Delatwon Haynes pleaded not guilty to all charges at his arraignment hearing Wednesday. His attorney,
Joel Brodsky, said they are still awaiting discovery from the state before they can move forward with the case.

"We don't have anything that would be important (to the case)," Brodsky said.
In the meantime, Brodsky has again appealed Haynes $2 million bond. Last week Brodsky filed a motion with the Second Judicial District Appellate Court of Illinois asking that it overturn a Lake County decision to hold Haynes on $2 million. On July 2, Lake County Judge Raymond Collins rejected a motion to lower the bond, previously set by Judge Daniel Shanes.
In the newest appeal, Brodsky makes many of the same arguments, including that Haynes had no criminal record and he is sole bread-winner for his family. He also questions the believability of the alleged victim, who is an admitted drug addict, and the victim's motive, based on information that she filed a $5 million lawsuit against the city of Waukegan.
Attached to Brodsky's appeal are several character letters in defense of Haynes, including one from announced Waukegan mayoral candidate Christopher Wakefield, who says he believes $2 million is too high of a bond, and Haynes deserves a fair shake.
In late June the State's Attorney's Office approved four counts of aggravated criminal sexual assault, one count of aggravated kidnapping, two counts of aggravated sexual abuse and eight counts of misconduct.
Haynes next court date is scheduled for July 31.
