Tom Morphey's testimony could have been heard realtime via videolink, allowing questions.

They are using this in courts in Canada now.  It saves money to not have to transport prisoners, hold them in a cell and pay to have a guard there.  They use it here when they set dates etc... which doesn't really require the prisoner to be in court.

I just asked my daughter about Tom Morphey's testimony and if it could be heard this way.  She's in college studying to become a correctional officer.  She tells me they use videolink for bail hearings.  She's not sure if they could do it in this case because Tom is actually testifying and needs to be sworn in.  It's a very interesting question.  Witnesses who testify against the mob do it in court and I'm sure they could be followed and that the press would be there.  For Tom's sake I hope they did use videolink but who knows - he may still show up as the last witness.
