This is just my personal opinion, but why would you want to ban him Ashley?  I completely understand the feelings you, and many others have toward him, as well as Drew.... but really, what difference does it make if he's a member here?  He can read here anyway, and will read I feel sure, whether he's a member or not.  If he feels the necessity to post, he is definitely aware that some of us will reply, whether favorably or not. We're all adults here, so I say let him join if he wants to.  JMO. :)

Ashley , this is so tough because personally i don't think brodsky should be on any board. Hes a lawyer for goodness sake!!!!!!!!!!  but i guess he did law by correspondence (sorry if the spelling is wrong) or read most of his classes off the back of a match box. I know lawyers back in sydney friends i went to school with, NONE of them go on blog spaces because they are all way too busy. Guess Brodsky skipped ethics at university thats assuming he went to university.

Drew Peterson's third wife has been silent for four years, and his fourth wife has not been heard from in nine months.

A bill on the governor's desk could allow them to speak.

It would give a judge the authority to allow hearsay evidence at a criminal trial passed through both the state House and Senate and is now waiting for the governor's signature.

"It's under review," said Brian Williamsen of the governor's office. But the bill's sponsor, Sen. A.J. Wilhelmi, D-Joliet, said he called Rod Blagojevich's people and put in a request to make the bill a law.

"We have contacted his office and asked him to make it a priority," Wilhelmi said of the bill, which passed through the Senate 43-0.

"It's overwhelming in its unanimous support," Wilhelmi said. "People recognize it's important."

State's Attorney James Glasgow worked with Wilhelmi to craft the bill.

"He helped draft the bill," said Glasgow's spokesman, Charles B. Pelkie. "He flew out to Washington to view a California case (before the Supreme Court) with similar issues."

Glasgow also said he was going to make his feelings known to Blagojevich.

"I'll be talking to the governor's advisor on public safety (Friday)," he said Thursday.

The proposed law would give judges the discretion to allow statements that previously would have been excluded by the hearsay rule. The judge would have to decide during a pretrial hearing that the statement was made against a defendant who silenced the witness. This silencing, for example, could have been accomplished by killing the witness.

Peterson case

The law might apply to missing Bolingbrook mother Stacy Peterson, the wife of former Bolingbrook police Sgt. Drew Peterson, whom state police named a suspect in her "potential homicide." Stacy supposedly told a minister Peterson killed his previous wife, Kathleen Savio.

Or the law might come into play with Savio herself, as she sent a letter to former Assistant State's Attorney Elizabeth Fragale in November 2002 in which she wrote, "(Peterson) knows how to manipulate the system, and his next step is to take my children away. Or kill me instead."

State police found no signs of foul play in Savio's March 2004 apparent bathtub drowning. In the wake of Stacy's disappearance, her death was ruled a homicide and the state police were given another crack at investigating it.

Pelkie would not say if the hearsay bill now on the governor's desk was drafted with Peterson in mind.

"(Glasgow) can't comment on a specific case," he said.

Peterson's attorney, Joel Brodsky, contends the proposed law has no bearing on any potential murder case against his client, and he cited Giles v. California, the same case Glasgow went to Washington to hear.

"Because of the Giles case, the new hearsay law does not make a whit of difference," Brodsky said.

I voted to let the **** onboard.

Appellate court denies ex-cop's bond reduction

A bond reduction has again been rejected for the former Waukegan police officer accused of raping a woman while on duty.

Earlier this week, the Second Judicial District Appellate Court in Elgin denied a request by the attorney for Delatwon Haynes to lower his $2 million bond.

The one-paragraph ruling submitted to Lake County courts Wednesday simply said the motion to reduce bond was denied.

Haynes' attorney Joel Brodsky filed the motion with the appellate court after a bond reduction was denied in Lake County court.
In his appeal, Brodsky cited Haynes' clean record and his role as sole provider for his family.

Haynes, 32, of Zion was arrested in late June following allegations that he groped and assaulted a Waukegan woman in a vacant Lewis Avenue parking lot, while working the midnight shift in January.

Haynes resigned from the department days after the allegations surfaced and has since pleaded not guilty to four counts of aggravated criminal sexual assault, one count of aggravated kidnapping, two counts of aggravated sexual abuse and eight counts of misconduct.

WAUKEGAN--On a day he was re-arraigned for **** and misconduct charges, Delatwon Haynes changed attorneys again.

The former Waukegan police officer dropped high-profile Chicago attorney Joel Brodsky as his representation in exchange for Waukegan attorney Jed Stone.

The change was a family decision, said Lauren Kaeseberg, who represented Stone's firm in court today.

Stone will be Haynes' third attorney since his late June arrest.

Also today, Haynes again pleaded not guilty to the 13 felony counts stemming from the January incident where he's accused of groping and raping a Waukegan woman while on duty.

Haynes, 32, of Zion faces four counts of aggravated criminal sexual assault, one count of aggravated kidnapping, one count of aggravated criminal sexual abuse and seven counts of official misconduct.

He was re-indicted due to a clerical error which misidentified the count numbers, said prosecutor Patricia Fix.

Haynes is due in court again Friday for a hearing to lower his $2 million bond. A bond reduction has already been rejected by a judge in Lake County, as well as by the Illinois Appellate Court in Elgin, but presiding Judge Victoria Rossetti has not yet heard the case.

"We think $2 million is excessive and we oppose it," Kaeseberg said.

Haynes, a seven year veteran of the Waukegan Police Department, resigned just days after the accusations arose. The alleged victim has filed a $5 million lawsuit against the City of Waukegan.

We (my buddy and I) have also dumped Brodsky!
He could not get me off a simple felony DUI, nor my buddy off a simple drug possession charge.
I thought he was a great lawyer...and then this!
Now I have to work at wal-mart, because there is no public transportation near me, and it is the only place in walking distance! (Thanks to JB I lost my license)

Before all this, I got my girlfriend pregnant, I thought things were going according to my definitive life order. I had a good job as a civil servant, my future was secure.

Then I got a DUI and my girlfriend got hit by a car, and now she is a quadriplegic. She delivered the baby that day. I don't know what I am going to do, as I lost my medical insurance and job because of the DUI. I may be able to get some medical insurance from wal-mart after 6 months, but it will not even cover 1/4 of my bills.

I was given all the advantages needed to succeed in life, yet somehow my life managed to go astray.
So much for the social learning theory!

I thought I was a shiny star, but now I am a flawed dud, a tattered old dish rag, a wal-mart ****…. Trailer-livin’ vermin.


This really has opened my eyes on how bad things can happen to good people.
From now on I am going to dedicate some of my free time helping the less fortunate!
I hope God forgives me for my past ways!

First....two things:
1.  I don't like Brodsky
2.  I don't wish you bad things...

But, sometimes, you do the crime, you pay for it.  You broke the law.  Having a lawyer doesn't entitle you to escape charges.  I have.....had a very good friend get killed by a drunk driver and...yes....I want him to pay dearly for it.

I hope you can recover from your mistakes and get back on your feet, but please take responsibility first.

Seems to me that Chuckles is sorry. He's even asking God's forgiveness. He's taking responsibility.
